President Mike Herrington opened the meeting by welcoming all attendees. A quorum was present. Mike reviewed the proposed agenda.
Mike advised that First Selectman Flatto had been delayed, and introduced Jim Alexander, HSR Head Professional.
Jim reviewed the following:
· The successful implementation in 2008 of the on line tee reservation system.
· Slight increase of $1.00 for senior residents weekday greens fee

· A new back tee on the 15th hole has been added, and a lot of trees have been removed
· HSR course will be opening shortly (March 14th in fact).
Mike then introduced First Selectman Ken Flatto, who discussed the general financial condition of Fairfield, including potential additional businesses (Whole Foods, as one example). The town will be aggressively seeking Federal stimulus funding for various projects. Additional topics briefly discussed were openings on the Golf Commission , and that the fee structure for town services was being reviewed but large scale across the board increases would not take place.
Glen Dobieski, the General Manager of Oronoque Country Club discussed the benefits of stretching before a round, as well as the general benefits of exercise regimens. Glen also offered to set up a Monday tournament for FSGA members at Oronoque as a means of introducing the course to those not familiar with Oronoque. Spirited discussion took place, and the general response was very positive. More to follow on that.

MINUTES OF 2008 YEAR OPENING FSGA GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
March 14,2008
Meeting opened at 10:00 with remarks by Mike Linnane, President.
The Pro¹s Message by Jim Alexander
Jim reported that rounds were down last year by 6,000, but our 40,000
rounds exceeded those of any other area course. He explained the new
automated call in/computer system, asserting that every effort would be made
to smooth out implementation.
Golf passes and passwords will provide access to the system; only residents
will be allowed to use the system from 5-9AM, non residents having access only
after 9 AM. Only one person per foursome will need to make the
reservation for the foursome (or threesome or twosome, as the case may be).
No-show penalties were explained. Jim emphasized that every effort will
be made to assure that seniors have equitable access to the system.
He stated that the system would not apply for FSGA League block times,
and that the sign up process for League block times would remain as in years past.
Jim also discussed the policy of having outside tournaments on Mondays, and
reemphasized his commitment to ensure minimum disruption on scheduled league play
dates from the policy.
Coffee shop will be open at 6:45AM on FSGA League days
Treasurer¹s Report by Sal Fiordelisi
FSGA entered 2007 with $ 874 in the account
Income for year 2007
$8934
Expenditures and Awards for year 2007 $7814
Balance end of year 2007 $1994
League Schedule was presented by Ron Wayne. Ron then reviewed our sign up
system.
Sign up sheets will be posted two weeks before League play. After discussion
of last year¹s experience on sign-ups a motion was made as follows:
Only
those who are Monday league members could sign up for a Monday for the first
week after posting; only
Wednesday league players could sign up for a Wednesday for the first week after
posting. On the second
week after posting, any FSGA member, regardless of league, could sign up for that specific Monday or
Wednesday if tee times were still available. Motion was seconded, and resolved.
Ron Wayne will discuss process/time frames for the Pro Shop to get sign up sheets before start of play.
There being no other new business to discuss, a motion was made, seconded, and resolved to adjourn the meeting.
